Stephen Ward
Director steve@graphix.meFollowing my 'time served' as an award winning graphic designer in a large advertising agency, then creative director for a small studio - it was time to 'go it alone' - April 15th 1993!
So, potted cheese plant under my arm, essential coffee mug in my satchel, Rotring pens hanging out of my cream chinos, I headed off to change the world with my creative talents - (well to my Mum & Dad's anyway :)
April 16th 1993 - the creation of Graphix with my brother, Simon. Working from my parents' house; drawing board & early Apple Macs in the dining room, printing press in the garage, potted plant in the hallway!
I had this vision of designer and printer working together - which was unheard of in those days!! We quickly established ourselves as a serious player, shunning the comments from so called 'just printers'.
Steve Bishop, who trained with us in our previous employment, soon joined us. Design and print became our 'day job', whilst renovating the recently purchased British Legion Club, became our 'night job'. We finally moved in to our new studio on February 14th 1994. The rest, as they say, is Geography!
I aim to further develop Graphix (and the team) continuing as a professional, well respected brand. Providing a quality visual identity to all our partners and clients (with an unnerving attention to detail)
On a personal level, I intend to continue my development as a ski instructor (so that I can stay one step ahead of my 11yr old daughter), master the Spanish language (I'm battling with it at the moment), ride my road and motox bikes more, continue to work hard and have fun, oh, and learn to make the perfect bread and butter pudding!
